Associate Professor Gloria Stillman

Associate Professor

Gloria Stillman is an Associate Professor in the Learning Sciences Institute Australia, Faculty of Education and Arts and an internationally recognised researcher in mathematics education particularly in the area of teaching, learning and assessing of mathematical modelling and applications. She is the current President of the peak research body in this field, the International Community of Teachers of Mathematical Modelling and Its Applications. Gloria joined ACU in2010 coming from The University of Melbourne. Gloria’s research has attracted funding from the Australian Research Council and she has undertaken government funded projects. She is series editor with Prof Dr Gabriele Kaiser of Germany of the Springer book series, International Perspectives on the Teaching of Mathematical Modelling. Her most recent books include Mathematical Modelling in Education, research and practice: Cultural, social and cognitive influences (Springer, 2015) and Teaching mathematical modelling: Connecting to research and practice (Springer, 2013). She serves on the editorial boards of several international journals including the prestigious ZDM–Mathematics Education and Mathematical Thinking and Learning.
