6th International Invitational Assessment for Learning Symposium

The Learning Sciences Institute Australia is hosting the 6th International Invitational Assessment for Learning Symposium in Brisbane, Queensland, from 19 to 21 September, 2016.
The Symposium was initiated by Dr Rick Stiggins, then Director of the Assessment Training Institute (ATI), Portland USA and first held in Chester, England, in 2001.
Since 2001, the Symposium has been held in: 2005–Portland, Oregon, USA (hosted by ATI); 2009–Queenstown & Dunedin, New Zealand (hosted by the University of Otago); 2011–Bergen and Solstrand, Norway (hosted by University of Norway); and 2014–Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada (cohosted by University of New Brunswick and Connect2Learning).
This Symposium will bring international assessment for learning experts in research, policy and practice to Brisbane to discuss research findings on the impact of Assessment for Learning, and future directions for research, policy and practice. Key themes for 2016 will be quality in assessment for learning practice and, especially, the key role of students and student agency in assessment for learning. While the A4L conference is invitational, outcomes will be disseminated through an international open assessment to be held following the Symposium from 21 to 23 September 2016
